Just bought a 1948 Chevy pickup. It is like the 3100 series except the hood
ornaments say "Thriftmaster" below Chevrolet. I know it had some extras
like corner windows, spotlight and turn signals mounted on the hood. It did
not come with and engine and I am looking for an EASY retrofit of engine,
drivetrain, rear end. My intentions are to use it as a highway cruiser,
rather than restore original.
I have a great deal on a 230 ci straight six engine complete with all
accessories and even a 4 -speed xmission. Will this be a good choice for an
install? I really want to avoid cutting into the firewall, floorboard, and
hassles with linkages for the pedals. Would I do better to look around for
something else?
Any commments appreciated.
