Could it be the 324ci (I think it was a Buick based motor) that GMC used in
some of the bigger trucks? It has a pretty distinctive look to it, the
valve covers are pretty shallow, and they are almost flat-topped, and sit
at almost a 45 degree angle. You can also check the serial number
(probably located on the passenger side just above the edge of the oil
pan), the first 3 numbers should be the displacement. Good luck.
