then the gauge will integrate the AC signal and come up with zero.
Test dash unit by disconnecting lead to tank at tank. don't let the short
ground wire confuse you. With key on, gauge sees infinite resistance at tank
and needle goes to over full. Ground it and gauge should read empty. If
this is the case your tank unit is not working. If inconclusive, Repeat this
test with jumper wire at dash gauge terminal to test for bad wire under truck.
Remember if you run 12 v in a 6v system you need a resistor to drop voltage in
wire between key and dash unit. Otherwise tank unit cooks quickly.

thoroughly.
