I just had the glove box door and speaker grill off of my '51 GMC for some
cleanup. After a little paint remover and a pass on the buffing wheel, I
determined that the glove box door is stainless steel, but painted dash
color between the ribs (now it shines like chrome!). The speaker grill is a
plain steel stamping, painted dash color, ribs and all. There is no question
that this is a factory treatment - I bought the truck from the original
owner and he confirmed the original paint had never been removed, just
painted over.

Kelly, welcome to the list. You'll learn more here in a week than in a year
on the phone
at J.C.'s.
