Well, after a long drawn out search for another ole truck to by and run about
in, my father and I have located a 54 3100 that we are going to buy tomorrow
morning. A body man has it near where my father works. We had inquired about
it 2 or 3 years ago and the man wanted 3500. Way to high for it. We checked
back on it today, the owner of the shop apparently passed away recently, and
asked how much. We struck a deal for 850. The fenders all the way around are
in excellent shape as well are the doors and hood. The bed is banged up a bit
and the cab is rusted in the usual spots. The truck has been painted and the
bad body work is showing, the bondo on the roof is peeling. The truck is
original except for the seat which has been replaced with a split bench. It
is supposed to run, I will let you know by the weekend. Also the holy grail
of the 54-55, the grille, is in excellent shape. It has minimal rust and no
dings, thank god for plenty of paint jobs on it. Our plans are to get it
running and use it as a parts truck for 54 that my father is doing. I also
plan on building a removable rack in the back to hold one of my jetskis, I
have two but I don't want to spend the money on a double trailer. That money
can be better spent on one of the trucks. =) By the way, does any one know the
carb jet size for a stock 54 235, I have looked up in my manuals but none of
them say. TIA
