That's interesting.  My '50 has the VIN plate held on with these dandy little 
clutch head screws (sure looks stock to me).  It's a snap to take it on and off 
- i.e. theft protection stinks.  Makes me wonder what VIN plates were *really* 
held on with for the different years.  Likewise here, no TX for me just in case.

Here in Conn I stamped my own # in a repro vin plate and pop riveted it
on. Had it inspected at the State DMV. They looked at the vin and never
questioned it. There are no frame #'s on a '50.  I think I will stay out
of Texas with  my truck.
