Rich,
My truck has a spare tire carrier bracket mounted on the inside of the box
forward of the wheel well on the passenger side. There are no rods or wing
nuts or whatever to attach the wheel. The spare that came with the truck
was hanging from a long rusty bolt. The bracket fits like a glove up under
the lip of the box on top with two screws through the upper surface of the
box (large phillips type pan heads) and two indented hex bolts through the
bottom of the bracket which sits on the lower lip of the inner box sidewall
(through the metal and the wood beneath it). Do you have a long or short
fleetside box? My long box truck has the holes in the lower lip of the box
inner side wall on both the drivers and passengers side. The upper holes
for the top of the bracket are only on the passenger side ..where my
carrier bracket is installed. The holes are 3-4" apart and do not line up
with the cross channel braces under the wood. They appear to be factory
holes. I can email you a picture of this if you want. Sorry for wordy
explanation.
