I don't think it matters where the car is produced. More who owns it and
who designed it, i.e. the owner (BMW). Like I said, VW's produced in Mexico
are not Mexican. Let's look at the Caterhams produced in Canada. Even with
it being an original Super 7 British styled design, it is not British. And
considering the different engine options like the Hayabusa, and Ford, simply
put this is a Canadian (kit) Car.
Seems that over years the British have sold their heritage, and we as
original British car owners are a special, if not so bright, group of
individuals. So God bless Lotus, God bless Britain, and God save the queen.

RE: the designer of the MINI, no that wasn't John Cooper. He was a race
car developer who was, among many other accomplishments, asked to make a
beast out of the diminutive Mini back in the day. Nowadays, it's all
about branding, and who has the $$ to buy that brand and capitalize on
it. Think Jaguar, Mini, and sadly, even the Lotus F1 teams. Much to be
said about this sad subject.
I'll give rides to anyone in the MINI JCW - you won't really care what
it's called after that.
