My VDP has a 4 liter V-8 I'm at 185,000 now. Hoping I don't jinx myself with
this. That Wales built V-8 is amazing. Nothing but routine maintenance.
Haven't even had a spark plug go out. Doesn't burn any oil and it looks almost
as good at the end of every 3000 mile oil change as it did when it was put in.
Impressive.
The weak area is the plastics in the cooling system. Heat gets to them.
Recently had to have a new thermostat unit put in. heavy deterioration of the
plastic.
Over the years had to put a couple of new bushings in the suspension system
and one set of shock absorbers and one set of engine mounts.

Jim, my 1990 XJ6 had 198,000 miles on it before the rear axle went out. I had
the car from 65,000 miles and had no transmission trouble at all. I traded
the car to Mark at British European who had his apprentice repair the axle. I
still see the car driving around Rohnert Park. It must have well over 200,000
miles. The engines will last for around 250k providing they are well
maintained and don't overheat. So there's lots of life left in yours yet.
Andy

The transmission seems to be the weak link in those Jags. My '91 went into "
limp home mode (3rd and reverse only) and there was no easy fix.
I retired it for parts at 138K
and found a '90 VDP for $4000
with only 109k on it. My '92 XJ6 is also still going strong with about
128K...just holding my breath..hoping for no more tranny trouble!
