I'd wager that your 86 XJ6 takes less tinkering than my 84 El Dorado........

Besides, when my Mom got t-boned by a drunk in 89, she was in an 83 VDP.
Were she in a lesser vehicle, she would not have walked away from the wreck,
and if she had taken the Nissan that day, she'd have died that day. Of
course, the saw would be said if she still would have had her TR 3......

Gotta love old British Iron.
