Hi Mark,
It could be bad piston rings on your #3. Bad rings would explain the burning
oil, and a black fouled plug. The longer you drive the car with this problem,
the more machine work will be required later on due to the increased wear on
the cylinder wall. You will also continue to loose pressure on that cylinder
due to wear. It will still run for quite a while, and should easily make it to
the end of summer. However, you will need to keep up with the loss of oil and
should carry a couple of extra spark plugs, just in case.
