Since we seem to be doing introductions ... I'm Mark Palmer, Editor of the
MG Vintage Racers Newsletter. I live in Bethlehem, PA. We have about 250
subscribers. I publish about 3 or 4 times a year, usually about 40 pages,
8.5 x 11 b&w. Have been doing this for 7 years, the previous Editor did it
for 15!
We have a website at www.mgvr.org (maintained by Chris Kintner, one of our
subscribers).
The newsletter is produced primarily on Microsoft Word, with photos pasted
up the old fashioned way, copies run by a local quick printer, stuffed &
mailed by me (bulk mail). Articles include race reports, tech tips, history
of MG racing, and some human interest type. Most of our subscribers value
content more than presentation. I normally write about 75% of the
newsletter, which is far too much, but we all know how difficult it is to
get others to write something.
We require all our subscribers to actively race a vintage MG, in order to be
eligible for the newsletter. We have no regular "dues", we simply collect
money when the kitty is empty & continue.
Would be glad to hear from others on their choice of software & printing
methods. Until recently my home computer would not have been able to handle
it anyway -- but recently upgraded. If the learning curve is not too
difficult I'd like to get away from the cut & paste method some day.
Regards to all,
Mark Palmer
