David - from what we've been able to determine at Gaydon, it
seems potassium is the preferred compound. The main
difficulty is alleged to be that the oil companies are using
it in different concentrations of AWA parts per million and
this goes some way to explaining why the British Standards
Institute won't give LRP a BS number. AFAIK, no oil company
has yet stated what concentrations they use as individuals
and this makes it even more difficult to assess the range of
lowest to highest. One way and another, it all seems to be a
bit of a dog's breakfast.
