To Club Newsletter and Magazine Editors
May I introduce my website
http://www.toolbox.ndirect.co.uk/triumphbook where you will find
information on an ENTIRELY new book about two careers from 1921 -
1972 relating to Standard and Triumph. This book is totally different
to all those previously written about STI (or probably any other
company) and special rates apply to Clubs who wish to order on behalf
of their members. Revert to me off list and I will send you details.
Attached in Word 6.0/95 is a selection of reader viewpoints received
this far.

received the titled book from John Macartney.
\par This is just to let you know that having randomly dipped into a few =
pages, in my view it is a very worthy book for your bookshelf. It =
describes many anecdotes from John and his fathers' life at Standard =
Triumph from the early years through to the 70's, is beautifully written =
and contains lots
\par of very interesting stuff.

\par }{\f1\cgrid0 It's a lovely, lovely book. As soon as I'd finished =
it, I sat down and read it again. It's such a shame that more books like =
this have not been written.

\par }{\f1\cgrid0 Listers and John Macartney,
\par Opened a package from England after work. Very pleased with the =
contents of the package, although I have not read a word in the book, =
yet. Special factory tool included was a real treat and likely will be =
used.=20
\par A very special book and it will be treasured.
\par Thank you John....see you in 2001 for the "2001 Triumph Odyssey" to =

\par }{\f1\cgrid0 John,
\par I just got back from my Post Office box! I was rewarded, this =
trip, by finding my copy of your book inside, complete with autograph, =
business card, and Triumph Service Tool!! Outstanding!!!
\par I am going to frame your business card, along with a photo of my =
1980 Inca Yellow Spitfire and it's BMIHT Certificate, for display in my =
den. Thank you! =20
\par I have glanced through the book and I look forward to reading it =
soon. The temperature tonight is to fall below -5 degrees F here in Ohio =
(along with the 8" of snow we received this weekend) so I won't be doing =
much work on any of the 6 Triumphs anytime soon.
\par Again, my most sincere thanks,

\par }{\f1\cgrid0 John,
\par I received your book in the mail last night and jumped into it =
immediately. It's very enjoyable and will be a good addition to my =
growing collection of books on the marque. It was also quite =
interesting to see reprints of the postings from the various lists where =
I saw them originally. Thanks so much for taking the time to write it =
and I hope you sell enough copies to make it worth your while!

so naturally I was looking forward to the book itself - and I wasn't =
disappointed! I'd felt for a while that the perspective from the factory =

would be a mine of interesting facts. Your book manages to lighten the =
factual bit with a wonderful collection of politically incorrect and =
sometimes moving tales. Thank you so much.

you, John.

the UK. Great job, John! I must say this is one of the few books that I =
actually read the prologue and preface. Thanks for taking the time to =
share your life and experiences with us.
\par I do have one question for you. Since I am a Spitfire fan(or =
fanatic, if you ask my wife) and don't have to deal with the twist-lock =
choke issue, what is the current market value of the special NLS service =
tool which I received with your book? I might donate it to our club =
(TCOC) and sell it at one of our Gathering auctions!

copies). Thank you!=20
\par The book is very well done. You should be very proud of yourself =

that I was able to purchase it. Again, I commend you! Thank you, and =

\par }{\f1\cgrid0 John,
\par I was quite pleasantly surprised to receive a substantial =
paperback, not the usual small publication with a folded and stapled =
cover, but almost a hardbound covered book! Unfortunately, I haven't =
had time to read it (yet) because I was so astounded by the unexpected =
inclusion of the genuine NOS
\par choke enhancer. I actually have a twist and lock choke on the GT6 =
(which still works) so I don't need it as of yet, but when properly =
installed, can only add points in any "concourse" I participate in! I =
surely wish I had known earlier, for I had a huge stockpile of possibly =
NOS units (slightly used, as I used them to secure the headliner whilst =
installing it. Hey, how was I to know??). Had I known their TRUE =
value, I would have gladly donated them to the cause. Now I'm not sure =
if they were genuine Leyland, but if not they were surely excellent =
reproductions! I could find no markings, so I assume it was procured =
from a skew, bin, or other such source on the factory floor. Anyway, =
impressive piece of work, and special thanks for the personally =
autographed, with my name included, not just your signature. A truly =
personal touch!

\par }{\f1\cgrid0 Funny you should mention this. The address was =
perfect, judging from the envelope stuffed into my just slightly too =
small mailbox today.
\par John, there's some GREAT stuff in there, and I look forward to a =
thorough read soon. And I'm very flattered by the inscription; I don't =
know if I can truly live up to that statement, but THANK YOU!

the book. There was a note in there from the lads in customs that they =

the Antarctic (ha ah). I'm afraid I cannot use your special tool since =
I have never bothered to hook up my choke on the GT6. Maybe I will now =
- - I love the idea and do not doubt its authenticity. "Clever, you =
Brits are".
\par And I'd love to joke about English food being inedible but I'd =
never thought of a biscuit as a weapon of war! I'd have thought the =
powers that be would have commissioned your father for inventing such an =
effective and inexpensive weapon!

yesterday. I enjoyed it immensely. I could probably write a book about =
all the thoughts/feeling that it evoked, but I'll spare you. I'll just =
say that it brought both laughter and tears at different times. I have a =
question for you; Do you think those who were involved with producing =
