Okay folks got technical problem here. I installed a new pinion seal on the
1962 DHC differential. Its a seal I bought a few years ago to put in my
1964 Plus 4 roadster( I think). While it fits, it is very tight, can't turn
the input without leverage. Sitting there contemplating the problem, (in
the light of my freshly painted chassis) I realize that what I might have
in the 62 DHC is a 3HA not a 7HA as in the 64.
A check of Morgan Spares catalog shows different seals for the 3HA and 7
HA.
Now the problem. Morgan Spares has a diagram which shows the measurements of
the 3HA and 7HA and the DHC measure out as a 7HA not a 3HA. So the
question is
A. any other way of telling the difference?
B. Anyone know the diameter of the pinion flange of either one of the two ?
C. When did the switch occur ( more or less )
As always any suggestions or help is appreciated, and if John Shelley can
spit out the diameters of the Morgan pinion flanges off the top of his head
the next round is on me :)
Bob Nogueira, Texas.
( Who on further reflection realizes he may have just installed a MGBGT
pinion seal on his Morgan. Damn I got to start labeling those spares )
