I also have the tube shock conversion on my '62 +4 four seater and I don't
think this is a good way to anchor the seat belts.
However, I do have a steel cross bar that Toby Tuttle installed for the rear
seat belt pick up points that tightens up the rear end and could support the
weight of the car. This seem to work very well. I would suggest that you
give Toby a call if you have questions. Toby's number is 831/466.0203, his
shop is in Santa Cruz California.

attaching the anchors to the sheet metal bottom plate under the seat
cushion.
That doesn't offer a LOT of confidence since the plate is only held in
place by two bolts along the front and the tabs on the fuel tank at
the rear. A more substantial solution would be to install a steel
cross piece above the tank but below the seatback (attached to the
plywood wheel wells I suppose) and anchor the belts on that.
On my '62, I am installing the crosstube for a tubular shock
conversion and have pondered using that as a seat belt anchor in some
way.
