JOE - I'm no insurance wiz (or agent) but methinks once she has established
a residence here in the States and has a address, phone number, etc., she
should be able to get insurance through the "normal channels"? Probably
even through one of the classic insurers? She should have a "normal" car
also to prove the Moggy will not be her sole means of transport.
Double-check too about converting the car after one year, may not have to?
It was my (earlier research info) understanding that a resident alien could
bring in and keep a "non-conforming" car for personal use? She "should"
take the car back to the UK when she returns though . . . . . . .

Hello folks,
I need advice again. A nice lady in England is coming
to New York State to work for several years and she is
bringing her brand new 1999 Morgan 4/4 with her.
Eleanor is having a major problem getting insurance for the
car. She can legally keep the car here for one year without
converting it to conform to US emissions and other specs,
but we cannot find any insurer will handle a car that is
registered overseas.
It's incredibly frustrating, a sort of "Catch 22" issue.
Do you know of someone who has been in a similar
situation? Or, do you know of anyone who has had a late
model 4/4 converted to conform to US specs?
