Here we go again after a rest day. The Oldies are still led by the Lagonda
M45 2 mins ahead of the MX Bentley, but the old 1938 Packard is still
chasing hard (well as hard as you can in a 38 Packard that is)
The classics are still all chasing the Aston DB6 of Pope & Reddyhough, it is
a full 5 mins ahead of the Joseph/Strasser Bentley that is in joint 2nd
place with the 230SL Mercedes of Winterlieter and Weidenauer. The next 5
places are covered by 5 mins! Facel, Bristol, Alvis, Porsche and Aston all 1
min apart. This is close racing at it's best after this distance, remember
that these cars have traveled from London.
The Dyke-Price Stu Onyett car is the highest placed Team Healey car in 16th
place some 32 mins off the pace. The Jaguar marquee are represented in 11th
spot by the Jones XK 150S with the TR2 ex Le Mans car in 20th position. The
Spurlings are holding 32nd place after a poor ending to last week, when for
a time they led the event. The Hunts in the other Team Healey 3000 are
having a nice little competition of there own with the Filmores in thier Xk
140. The little MGB of Treves/Langer is keeping up with them, so a great
effort on their part.
The lone Lotus Elan is having problems as they have blown a diff and now
have to be towed back to the hotel. Is this the end for them??? The big 1940
Caddy had a fuel supply problem and lost a day, they drove non stop for the
rest day and have now caught up with the main event. Ralph Jones has bent
his very nice DB4 by coming to a very sudden stop against some rocks! You
should stop that Ralph the Aston does not like it! Can it be fixed we
wonder?
Julia has now left the back seat of the Rolls and has been replaced by the
original navigator, Dave Wilks, who is now recovered from his illness. Julia
was last seen waiting for a plane in the airport. Is this the last we have
heard of her? Will she be able to return to her life as a hairdresser after
competing in the worlds most tortuous car event laying on the back seat of a
vintage Rolls Royce????
