For those of us that have not had the opportunity to see the site in
question, could someone post photos or direct us to a site that would
enlighten us for this debate? I am a preservationist at heart, but it would
be helpful to see what the historical qualities are here.
As an aside, I was a staunch supporter of keeping the "traditional" shrines
of baseball intact in this country. "Save Tiger Stadium..." I chanted. Then
I attended a game there for the first time... 'Doz it!
Sometimes we have to let go of the past because there is really nothing left
to preserve but the memories of better times. Guardians of the past may have
done a horrible job making it impossible to preserve for the future, and
that's a shame. That's what happened to Tiger Stadium -- sheer neglect.
I'd appreciate the opportunity to see the site before it's gone -- if there's
something to see.
