Don,
When our cars were put together, they were assembled before chassis numbers
were assigned. The numbers stamped on the body parts are related only to
the engine number. As an engine was picked for a chassis, the engine
number was stamped on the various parts as the car was assembled. When the
car was sold or ready to be dispatched, the chassis number was assigned in
sequence to the sale. The engine numbers are more random than the chassis
numbers. They are out of sequence.
