Scott,
You can't just add a coolant recover bottle without using a cooling
recovery cap on the radiator. The problem you may have is finding a 3
or 4 lb recovery cap. If you go too high in pressure you risk blowing
up the heater core if you have an original heater. I ended up buying a
15lb modern cap, drilling out the rivet that holds everything together
on both caps and installing the 3 or 4lb spring in the modern cap and
using a small stainless machine screw and nut to replace the drilled out
rivet and hold everything together.
