...instead of trying to cut a 45 degree bevel with a plane (electric or
manual),
why not precut the bevel on a band saw with a tilting table? Or, if the table
doesn't
have this option. ramp the piece to be cut on one edge to form the bevel.
If you're still intent on planing the edge, look into the Garret-Wade
catalog. for
a Stanley (UK), moulding plane with an adjustable sole plate.
As for the springs, try the Old House resources catalog for upholstery
sup-
plies, including the webbing and twine to position them correctly - gotta
learn the
correct knots, too.
After that, just "tuck 'n roll" the leather...
