Despair not! A quarter inch of play is probably not the problem... This
severe shimmy is quite dangerous.
You did not mention which Morgan you have and that is pretty important.
Same for the type of wheels and tires.
I have the impression the car has been sitting for some time? Then the
first thing to consider is the tires. If they are badly overinflated,
have flat spots from sitting, and so forth, they can definitely cause
your shimmy. The same is true for a damaged wheel. Even the tires being
badly out of balance can shake the Mog all over the place. And, of
course, the front end alignment could be the culprit.
So, first examine the wheels and tires. Then move on to balance of the
tires. Then move on to front end alignment.
Next check the dampers.
Remember that if you have a combination of several small problems it can
add up to a big problem.
