Chuck,

My '67 4/4 is a RHD car and the crack was on the right hand side just about 
at the firewall.  Chassis was a wee buckled at that point too.  It was found 
and repaired by my local body shop during a bit of painting.  The shop owner 
said "I just straightened out the chassis and welded the crack."  I did not 
see any sign of disassembly and the shop would have gotten in touch before 
doing anything like that.  Chassis had and has the usual rust.
