I was reading one of my Morgan books - and it mentioned that around 1958 the
factory was looking to add another four inches to the width of the tub in an
effort to please the American Market, and it was decided that as the running
boards weren't doing very much, it would be those that lost two inches a
side.
Then I began to wonder what purpose the running boards served in the first
place? I remember Mob hit men using them in early drive-by shootings - and I
could see a use for them with saloon cars (to bridge the gutter) buy what
purpose in sports cars?
