The spring tension will NOT cure the problem... If it helps at all- you are
going to wear the shifter forks (hard to find replacements..) and the "fix"
will be very temporary. The forks do not hold the gears in place.... In fact-
once in gear, the forks have little to do at all. They only should have
contact when shifting the gears...
The detent balls in the syncro sleeves do the little-required, holding. If it
is not holding in gear then you have bad syncro rings or hubs and the only fix
is to replace them..
