Will,
I had scattered Matilda's original box(she started life as a series 5)
and I re-engined her with my 69 cortina's engine and gear box in 80.
Only two changes had to be made 1. a new tunnel cover, which Bob Nogueria
made for me as he was embarrassed by the naugahyde covered plywood box I
had covered the transmission with and sawing off and rethreading the
lever. In my mix and match world I do miss my old push pull click click
shifter but I really appreciate the better ratios and the lack of that
huge gap twixt 2nd and 3rd. One of my spares is her original engine and
gear box which matched up easily. BTW as we are expecting for the
temperatures to drop down into the 90's we will probably be getting our
Moggies out a tad more as we now go more into our time of year for fun
motoring.
