DFLer's: for what it's worth, I was able to get our Plus 8 up to 128
mph last Tuesday. It took a bit of a decline in the roadway to get it
up to that speed initially but, once I hit the flats, the car was able
to maintain that speed for a mile or so.
Our little town is at the absolute floor of the valley, at 1,000'
elevation. A major highway runs 4 miles to the west at about 1,100'
elevation. By starting at that point I was able to get the car up to
this speed and, after hitting the flats after about one and a half miles
of a steady drop, I was able to keep it at speed for a ways until I
decided to slow it down.
That's a bit of a fudge, I suppose, especially since I haven't been able
to get the car over 120 mph from a dead start on a flat surface - but it
made my day!
We're probably pretty easy to entertain out here.
