Subject: More on Decarbonizing
In the 50's and early 60's, when Americans were in love with big high
compression engines, you could buy decarbonizing products that you
poured through the carburator(s) to get rid of the carbon deposits in
the head. They used to work quite well, especially if you drove your
car for short distances and rarely got your engine really hot. I
remember mechanics pouring a can of the stuff down the carb and then
telling you to go to the nearest freeway and run the hell out of the
engine for 15 minutes or so. I haven't seen these products in stores
for years. Are they still available and are they any better than the
water treatment?
