Synthetic Oils

OK gang, here is another one for you to bounce around.  Does anyone 
have any opinions as to the benefits or detriments of using synthetic oils in 
the Older Mogs (pre-67)?  Since some of these engines seem to run 
hot, perhaps the synthetics may be of use.  But then, Consumer 
Reports did a study that showed they were really not necessary since 
conventional oils did a pretty good job.  But they did not use Mogs 
to test...  Any opinions one way or the other?
