Yes,
The author is correct, running unfiltered air to your engine will shorten the
life. Dirt is an abrasive. If you are a concours type, and do not drive
much, it may not have that much effect. If you drive your car regularly,
filter it. Many people put the super sport type scoop on the car so that
they can fit a filter.
