Tom,

I would think the distributor would rotate at least thirty degrees, if not
forty-five. This should be more than ample to adjust the timing.

If it will not rotate properly, perhaps the clamp is bent. Over-tightening
of the clamp bolt can warp and damage the distributor body.

How much will the distributor turn when the locking clamps are loosened? I
think that my setting is off after replacing the head. I can't seem to get
much power when I drive the car but it seems to idle ok.
