Yes that will split it in half. I believe you also need to remove the drive
shaft flange. It has been a long time since I had mine apart. Be aware the
friction material is not that thick when new so don't worry if it doesn't
seem thick.

Can i just unbolt the 8 bolts in the rear casing of the OD unit and
remove it ? of is there something else that I need to be aware of?
