   The HIFs are no more difficult to keep adjusted than other models (HS
4s).   They have some advantages, in fact, such as metering the fuel
slightly more precisely in hard cornering situations and in cold-running
conditions. Some say better fuel mileage too. 
   Just set them up by the instructions in the manual and you will be
quite happy with them.
   The '72 should have had HIFs from new.  If HS were installed at some
time in history, check that the thickness of the intake & exhaust
manifolds is the same where the manifolds clamp to the head.  There were
different thicknesses, but you can make this up with spacers.
