David:
The diesel B series engines were used in a lot of agricultural
applications such as stationary pumps and also a small tractor over here
in the US.
There was a rubber bumper MGB up in San Luis Obispo, CA for sale a few
years ago with one fitted.

Subject: Re: General question
According to Neil Cairns' book, BMC apparently produced a B-series
engine in
a Diesel flavour. It's a 1500 (1489), and is designated BP15J, 15Y, 15Z.
It
produced a dizzying 40hp at 4200 rpm, but did twist out 90 ft. lb. of
torque, making it a regular little stump puller. Can't imagine where you
could find one stateside, but if you did, it would bolt right in to MGB.
Regards,
David
