You could use a timing light to check a couple of things here, that
there _is_ spark, and that it's occuring at the right time.
Two suggestions have been made about the wiring inside the
distributor, that the insulating washer must be present and that the
positive wire to the points isn't grounding. Another possibility is that
the tiny flex wire that grounds the assembly to the distributor body is
intact.
