Conversion to LPG was once very popular here on the US/Meico border. The
LPG was selling in Mexico for $.17 a gallon, so nearly every pick up truck
had
a 100 gallon tank in the back and went to Mexico every 2-3 weeks to fill up.
Of course, Mexico woke up to the fact that we were coming across and buying
LPG that the Mexican government subsidized (kept the price artificially low)
so Mexicans could afford to heat their houses.
Also, it too many folks in the US do that, we ARE still liable for the state
and federal taxes already being collected at the pump with gasoline, so I
can assure you the fed and states would start looking for ways to collect
these taxes.
