Any MGB panel supplier should have these. Only cut the minimum out, don't
use the whole panel unless you have to. Treat the underlying sill and hope
it hasn't also rusted through, dirt and moisture trapped between the two
panels rots both ways. Use a flanger or joddler on the *repair* panel to
make a flange to go behind the existing upper part of the wing, stitch-weld
and grind smooth. Drill and plug-weld where the flange follows the edge of
the B-post round the curve of the door hole. Don't weld where the leading
edge of the repair panel meets the top of the visible part of the sill, use
seam-sealer after welding and leave the groove between the two. There may
be a flange on this edge of the repair panel that means it stands well-proud
of the sill instead of being flush, I bend this back rather than cutting it
down. Edge-weld round the wheel-arch and along the flange on the sill. Use
weld-through primer on the back, and after painting squirt a jet of runny
Waxoyl through the access hole under the trim panel behind the doors. The
objective is to get the liquid to penetrate the narrow gap between this
cover panel and the sill and coat both. If you use a fine spray instead the
thinners will evaporate too quickly and the waxy residue will just bridge
the top of this gap. This, or nor treating it at all in other than desert
conditions, is what makes repair panels rust through quicker than the
originals.
