It does sound as if the alternator is not putting out a charge. In a true rebuild, they replace the brushes, diode pack, and the bearings. They would also check the solder joints and polish the commutator. All of this is doable by the home mechanic. If money is a problem, you can check the length of the brushes and leave them in if they are long enough. You can also skip replacing the bearings if they are in good shape. Maynard |
