Probably. Usually any change to how your car looks, sounds, smells and feels should be investigated, ignoring it often leads to a breakdown and the owner cussing the car. "Listen to your car, it is talking to you". Short-circuit diodes can cause increased noise and heat, as well as mechanical problems.
