Ummm, the B-series engine stops producing power above 4500? Really, that's
pretty much it for the stock motor. You want more, you're going to have to
start spending money... <g>

More likely, you aren't perfectly centered on the cam lobe when you're
measuring the gap. It's very tough to do it accurately on the car. I always
pull the distributor and set it in a bench vise. The current Classic
Motorsports recommends the same procedure (it also has some very useful info
about setting timing in general). For someone like me who needs bifocals,
and doesn't have a clean, well-lit garage, I would say it's almost
mandatory.
