Also, while driving in this morning, there
were a couple of pickups ahead of me. We were
just getting out of the construction by 3M on
I-94.
Suddenly, the rear left wheel came off the
truck on the right! It bounced around and
hopped the median. Traffic was light heading
west, and we all slowed down and got around.
The brake drum came to rest in the center (left)
shoulder and the truck stayed in control and got
stopped on the left. It happened just as a third
lane was being added on the right, so he had a
fair distance to go.
Meanwhile, the tire keeps going, into East bound
traffic. I saw 4 or 5 cars and trucks swerving to
miss the tire. The scariest was probably the Toyota
Corrola (at least that size) dodge from the right
lane to the left lane, right in front of a very
large dump truck. A Semi also had to do a quick
lane change, fortunately, no one was next to him.
This was before rush hour (about 6:45) so there
weren't too many cars on the road.
Talk about waking you up in the morning.
