Heater box for MGB

I have mated a 77-80 centre console to a 70 heater box.  The 
'defroster/interior' control only turns a quarter but the flap inside is 
moved as far as it will go.   This leads me to believe the 77-80 heater box 
was different,  Can someone enlighten me please?   Has anyone a spare 77-80 
heater box if they are different?
