Just for reference:
Today we took a 100 mile cruise to a remote controlled airplane show in the
79B (with HIF's). About an hour into the drive, the car started sputtering
and lost power above 60 miles per hour. We went ahead and drove it to the
show, watched the show for 45 minutes and had a beer while the engine bay
cooled down. I then took the dizzy cap off and looked at the points; they
were clean. I took the foam air cleaners (Moss 223-230, pp. A20) off and
discovered that one hex head screw that held the air cleaner plate onto the
carb had fallen off and the gasket between the air cleaner plate and carb
had dropped and covered half the air intake to the front carb. Refitted
everything. Problem solved.
