I had this dipstick issue in the seventies with a Simca 1100.
The DPO never thought to shift the collar backward to it's original
position, so he marked new min and max lines on the stick.
After a month of owning the car I shifted the collar back to it's orginal
place ans a click told me it was right.
Oil level was marked o.k. afterwards.
