Hello Gang,
Fixed problem-1 with my '76 Midget last
weekend. PO had installed a 12v, non-ballast coil
but had not removed the ballast resistor from the
circuit. A good clean-up of all connectors and a
new coil {that I happened to have from an MGB
project] put the ignition back in good order.
Now I need to address an overly rich mixture
problem. THe mixture is WAY too rich from idle to
high engine speeds. That tells me that I may have
a stuck float or a debris-held-open float valve.
The carb is a Weber DGV and while not the 'power'
option of choice, they are typically 100%
dependable. I will order a rebuild kit later
today. That should complete the repairs to the
drive-line. Allt hat remains is to replace a
fuse in the wiper circuit and a little wiring
clean-up under the dash. This baby is ready!
