That's exactly how I did it. I was just wondering if anybody had a better
technique

then use the box end wrench on them to 'feel' how much force you need to
reach the proper torque. You may need to extend the length of the wrench
with a bar or pipe to get the needed force. Then try to match that feel on
the trouble nuts.
