IME if you have a properly fitting folding frame top it will be about 1.5
too short to fit over the stow away frame. My favorite thing about the stow
away frame is that when I lived in Colorado, I could leave it home all
summer and only put it on if the weather was rain all day. Most of the time
the rain there was in the early afternoon while I was at work so the tonneau
would keep the car dry and I could drive topless (the car) to and from work.
In a climate where weather is frequently inclimate I would, and do, use a
folder. I think that there was an intermediate folding frame that was only
around for a couple of years but I don't think that I have ever seen one,
but I have heard that they are more inclined to cut the top during folding.

The header rail is the same for both. The stow away frame slides into a
pair of sockets whereas the fold down one bolts in the same three holes
that hold on the sockets on each side. The tops are slightly different for
either frame; the folding frame one has some attachment snaps to the frame
which are likely not present on the stow away top. However, I have used my
present top on both types of frames and although its for the folding frame,
it seems to fit better on the stow away. So in short, they are pretty much
exchangeable with each other. I have taken a liking to the folding frame
because I can raise or lower the top in a minute or two, handy for spring
weather. My original 65B had the stow away and that was more of a hassle
dis-assembling frame and putting it and the folded top in the trunk and
then reversing the procedure.
