party, you should see about 14.5v on any brown with the engine running at
about 3k. All you can do is ensure the connections from the alt to the
solenoid are sound, and indeed you are connecting the wires to the correct
terminals on the alt. Anything else is down to the alt itself, and there
have been a spate of reports of bad replacement alts in the last few days.
Hunt's Fifth Law: "Many break-downs occur soon after a car has been worked
on; 'new' parts can be faulty when you receive them; 'new' parts will
sometimes fail soon after fitting; 'new' parts almost certainly won't last
as long as the originals. "
