Did a little more testing. At cold startup, the oil pressure was 55lbs @
idle.
When temp guage was 1/2 way between "C" and "N", the pressure was 40 @ idle.
When temp guage was at "N", the pressure was 35 @ idle.
After a quick spirited drive, the pressure was 13 @ idle.
Would this fit the bill for a relief valve that has failed?

After warmed up (measurements taken after a 15 mile high speed tollway
trip), my MGB shows about 10psi for each 1,000 prm while driving. This
holds true for idling as well: i show about 10psi for an 950rpm idle.
Does this seem low? The oil is 20W-50. The main and rod bearing were
replaced about 10,000 miles ago, I don't suspect these to be the problem.
Does this sound like a potential problem with the oil pump or maybe a stuck
pressure release valve???
